Experiencing Android

I've been wanting to get my hands on Android ever since I heard about Motorola Droid. Of course, as of this posting, Android phones has broken the mainstream and is competing well against iOS phones (or better known as iPhones). This has also multiplied my interest in Android. Unfortunately, I don't have the resources to go get myself an Android powered phone. Fortunately, I recently installed VirtualBox (which is free) on my PC-BSD (which is free) run laptop and recently discovered the live-android Project (which is also free) (I know, that's a lot of free stuff).

I'm using the liveandroidv0.3.iso file as of this posting. You can get the file via torrent from Mininova or you can also download the ISO here. I gave it a test run earlier and it was really fun but, even though you can use the mouse, felt weird because the interface is meant to be for touchscreen devices.

To navigate Live Android in all it's virtual awesomeness, do the following using your keyboard:

Home - press the super key (a.k.a. Win key beside the left Ctrl key)
Back - press the trusty old Esc key
Select - press the ever abused Enter key
Menu - press the right-click keyboard equivalent beside the right Alt key
Navigation - use the arrow keys
Drop to Terminal (a.k.a. Command line) - press <Host key> + F1 (in my case, <Host key> is right Ctrl key)
Go back to GUI - press <Host key> + F7

And so, I got to experience Android to some extent. And I think it's cool. If only I have the money to buy an Android powered phone, I think I'd get one. I leave you now with some screenshots.
