Okay, the title seems misleading. What I'm talking about is that I recently installed VirtualBox OSE 3.2.6 for PC-BSD 8.0. Earlier this week, I decided to make my laptop run purely on PC-BSD meaning I got rid of the dual boot setup with Ubuntu. But that doesn't mean I won't be missing Linux, specifically Ubuntu. That's why I installed VirtualBox OSE so whenever I have an inkling for Linux, it's just within reach with no need to reboot the computer. Running 2 operating systems simultaneously is fun, at least for me.
Despite what some say, in the week that I have been using VirtualBox OSE, I have never encountered problems with the Linux system I chose to virtualize: Xubuntu. Xubuntu installed quite quickly, and runs quickly in its virtual home. I even did a recent update and tried running its screensaver. Bottomline, it's responsive and fast. This is the first time I have actually enjoyed using a virtual operating system.
The only drawback is that Xubuntu can only go to a maximum of 800x600 resolution but when I tried running Tiny Core Linux 3.0 on it, the resolution was much bigger which is weird. But it's only been a week since I used VirtualBox OSE so maybe there's a workaround for this shortcoming. But Xubuntu on 800x600 is pretty usable for my tastes.
