September eventually ushers into what we call here in the PH as the BER months. It’s the unofficial start of the Christmas season. Usually, at the strike of September 1, FM radio stations start playing nostalgic Christmas songs. And stores start adorning their stores with xmas stuff.
BER months also test your memory (and how badly you’ve aged so far) as you’ll have to recall all the names of your godchildren (which having more than 5 is very common here in the PH). if you’re a diligent godparent, you’re also going to have to start thinking of where (to get money first then) to buy your godchildren’s gifts. And if you have more than five then you’d be hard pressed to look for budget ones. Good luck! (I suggest using a running spreadsheet file to log all those godchildren names and ages so you get appropriate gifts and so you won’t forget)
Lastly, the street people populace start doubling (or tripling) bringing with them improvised drums made of scrap PVC pipes and mutated xmas tunes for a quick peso.
So a very pre, unofficial merry xmas to you!
