We arrived at the Changi Airport at around 23:45hrs of March 5 and so decided to stay overnight to save up some money (we would otherwise have spent had we rented out a room for the night). Turns out it was a bad idea as I for sure wasn't able to get a good hour of sleep! So don't do this...well I forgot what they said here about sleeping at the airport so we suffered! But our new experience was just beginning so no need to dampen the spirit, right?
Okay, I really feel that pictures will help out in this post so...
This is where we stayed. YMCA International Hostel. It wasn't exactly cheap for a Php earning peon. Look elsewhere if you're on a tight budget.
Location: Marina Bay area of Singapore. Fresh out of the airport, we dropped our stuff off at the hostel and went straight here.
The Singapore Flyer is a really big ass ferris wheel. When you're used to seeing our local ferris wheels during town fiesta fairs, it would pale in comparison to this. The fare cost us S$29, if I recall correctly. Ride lasted for about 45 mins. You get to see aerial views of some parts of the bay.
The reflection of the Singapore Flyer on the building glass. I felt a bit artistic-y.
The sun going down behind the behemoths at the central business district of Singapore. Oh yeah, it was already 7:30pm when this shot was taken which is what 5:30pm looks like here in the Philippines. No wonder I was a bit sleepy.
Location: Universal Studios, Sentosa at Singapore. I had the most fun here (you really have to lest you wasted your S$66 if you don't). Lot's of cool stuff to see.
The 2 intertwined roller coaster known as Battlestar Galactica. The blue rails are for the Cylons and the red rails are for the Humans. I only rode the Human one, had no guts for the Cylon. Go there to know why.
It was really hot there at Universal Studios and when I saw this, I wished I'd brought with me a change of clothes. Look! The dino is eyeing the little girl for dinner!
The Dino resto at the Universal Studios. Funny I didn't run into Fred or Barney.
Waterworld show was the best. If you like to get wet, then go down to the front rows.
And then I found myself in Far, Far Away. The 4D Shrek movie was fun but too short. And Donkey's comedy bar was impressive - the close to accurate way the CGIed Donkey's lips moved along with the voice behind the curtains.
The Fast and the Furios: Legends. Asian Vin Diesel was there at Universal Studios! Couldn't get an autograph though. Too bad...
Songs of the Sea. This was a great show. Impressed at how they are able to pull off projecting these animated sequences using water spray as canvass. A must see if you haven't already.
Location: Malaysia. This was a side trip to MY we did since we were already there (in SG) and MY was just close by. Thanks to the special someone of a companion we were able to do the indoor skydiving simulator at a reasonably low cost.
Marrybrown. This is meal #11 - my favorite! It's really good. Actually, the food in MY was way better than SG based on my personal taste buds.
Fish Spa. According to the owner, these fish are called Chin-Chin (that's how I heard it) and they feed on the ... uhm ... whatever dead stuff on your feet. Ticklish but fun, a must try! Is there one here in Cebu where we can avail of this spa?
Architectural wonders. I could stare at this all evening. It was really good to finally see these towers in person. Awesome, truly awesome.
Classic Inn Budget Hotel. Off Jalan Imbi, Malaysia. This is where we stayed in MY. It's a really cozy place and the food (free breakfast) is good. The owner was really generous and you could even vandalize a portion of the Inn's walls with your personal message. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Traveling always makes me queasy at first but once you get to the destination and see something you only see in postcards (read: Petronas Towers), you forget the fatigue and costs incurred during the trip...well, until your credit card bill comes and you realize it's back to reality!
Well, that's all I will spare for this blog post as I realize it has become quite a lengthy post. Thanks for reading.
