Before this day ends, I would like to greet all the fathers out there. I am not yet one but I can understand how hard it is to be one. Coincidentally, my wife and I watched the movie Inkheart on DVD today. And I believe that it is one of those classic tales about the lengths a father would go to just to protect his family.
The constant battles with the book-spawned evils in the movie may very well symbolize the many challenges a father goes through in life. Mo protects his daughter in the movie from the demons just like a father would protect his daughter from bad influences in life. Mo does everything he can to bring back his wife in the movie just as a father should keep the family intact for the sake of the children. Despite all the challenges, Mo does his best to keep his composure just like a father should when faced with trials that involve his family.
Mothers are considered modern day saints and I believe fathers can be considered modern day heroes. I know that my hero is my father. I know how much he had to sacrifice to give us a comfortable life; he forced himself to rise from poverty -- I know, I read his 3-page autobiography and it made me cry inside.
Again, a happy father's day to all fathers out there. And to my dad, who can never be anything less than a hero in my life.
